Saturday, September 19 is Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Day

Saturday, September 19 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. is Household Hazardous Waste Collection at the Recycling Center, 1432 Barbour Way. Examples of HHW include household cleaners, insecticides, pesticides, automotive products, and oil-based paints and stains. If a product is labeled “Danger,” “Poison,” or “Warning,” there is a good chance that it is HHW and should be disposed of properly. Improper disposal of HHW by regular trash or dumping on the ground or in the water supply is toxic to humans, wildlife, and our environment. SEIRD can accept powder, liquid or crystalized HHW chemicals with their original labels attached. Latex paints are not acceptable, but can be disposed of in the regular trash after drying out leftover paint with rags, kitty litter or newspapers.
