City to Host Fireworks and Yard Sale in July
Posted by Bryce Kendrick on June 10, 2020
In accordance with the Back On Track Indiana guidelines established by Governor Holcomb, the City of Rising Sun will host it’s annual fireworks event and community yard sale…just later than originally planned.
Fireworks On The River has been moved to Saturday, July 11. Starting at 7:30 pm, the Lions Club will be serving up some great summer eats and have plenty of cold drinks on hand. Also, Chuck Brisbin and The Tuna Project will perform live with their magical mix of Rock and Blues. Come early with your chairs and blankets. Grab a seat along Front Street and our terraced riverbank. The fireworks will launch at 10 pm.
The Golf Cart Parade will again be part of the fun. Decorated golf carts will gather at City Hall (200 N. Walnut Street) and parade through town starting at 7:30 pm. If you need decoration assistance, some supplies will be available at 7 pm.
In the event of a rainout, the make-up day for the fireworks is Friday, July 17.
The Rising Sun Yard Sale Extravaganza, usually held in May, has been moved to Thursday, July 16 through Saturday, July 18. Local residents who wish to have their yard sale promoted for free should contact Ynez Taylor at City Hall: phone 812-438-3340 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Please include your first and last name (SPELL your name if you call), your sale location and the day or dates you plan to sell.
Those who provide their information by 5 pm on Wednesday, July 1 will have their information published in the local paper on Thursday, July 9. The city will also publish sale sites on its website. Information will be taken up through Tuesday, July 14, but get your info in by July 1 to take advantage of our newspaper ad.
In the midst of the community yard sale, Friday, July 17 is also Music On Main and Cruise-In sponsored by Main Street Rising Sun. Deuces Wild will perform from 7 to 9 pm on Main Street. Enjoy a great mix of country from the 90s through today plus some classic rock and even some pop-laden mashups. Bring the family and enjoy a great summer evening of entertainment on Main Street.
