Join your friends and neighbors Saturday, June 16 for the Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Commission's Annual River Sweep.  The local portion of this cleanup will commence at 9 a.m. from the shelter near the old city boat ramp at Front and First Street.  Trash bags will be provided and all volunteers will receive a free t-shirt. ROAD RESTRICTIONS (updated May 13): no street parking from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, May 14 and Tuesday, May 15 on the following street: High Street. The Rising Sun/Ohio County Port Authority has opened up 2018 applications for mooring spaces at the Rising Sun Public Docks.  Applications are being accepted right now and must be received in the City of Rising Sun's Clerk-Treasurer Office (200 North Walnut St.) by 5 pm on Wednesday, May 23. Fees for 2018 are $15 per foot for boats up to 26 feet in length or $20 per foot for boats over 26 feet in length. City Lowers Flags To Half Staff For Barbara Bush
The City Of Rising Sun has lowered its flags to half staff due to the passing of Barbara Bush, former First Lady of the United States.  She died Tuesday evening in her Houston, Texas home at the age of 92. Mrs. Bush was the wife of 41st President George H.W. Bush.  They were married for over 73 years marking the longest marriage of any U.S. presidential couple.  She was also the mother of 43rd president George W. Bush.

The Ohio County Veterans Memorial Committee is selling personalized bricks for the new veterans memorial at Rising Sun's Riverfront Park.  Bricks are $40 each.  Currently, there has not been a purchase date deadline established.
