Navy Bean Baby Contest
The Ohio County 4-H Junior Leaders are sponsoring a baby contest during the 2018 Rising Sun Navy Bean Fall Festival.  This first-year event will be held on Friday, October 12 at 6:30 pm inside Heritage Hall on Main Street.  This contest is open to all Ohio County residents with an entry fee of $10 per baby.  Registration is due by 4 pm on Thursday, October 11 at the Ohio County Extension Office, 412 Main St. in Rising Sun. Fall is just around the corner and is a great time of year to get outdoors to enjoy the beautiful colors and weather the season offers.  The Rising Sun-Ohio County Parks & Recreation Department announces the return of 31 Miles In October. Boil Water Advisory Lifted
The Boil Water Advisory which was in effect for portions of Rising Sun has been lifted.  The following sections of our community were impacted during the repair of a water main: South Walnut Street (SR 56) from Plum Street to Arnold's Creek. South Mulberry Street from Maiden Lane to Rio Vista Lane. All of Rio Vista Lane. All of Glenn Meadows Drive including the Glenn Meadows Apartments. Sidewalk Repairs Begin August 9
A few sections of sidewalk within the city of Rising Sun will undergo repair work over the next few weeks.  Starting Thursday, August 9, the sidewalk from 109 to 121 North High Street will be addressed.  After that, these smaller sections will be repaired: 315 North Walnut Street, 313 South Walnut Street and 113 North Mulberry Street.

Age Limit Raised By State To Operate Motorized Carts
Because the State of Indiana recently updated its code pertaining to the use of motorized carts on public roadways, the City of Rising Sun had to do the same to be compliant with the state code.   Previously, an individual could operate a motorized cart (e.g. golf cart) on Rising Sun city streets if the individual was at least 15 years of age and had a valid photo ID.  Under the revised state code and amended city ordinance, the individual now must be at least 16 years and 180 days ...

Youth Dance Classes Start August 20
The Rising Sun-Ohio County Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring dance classes for children ages 4-12.  There are classes for ballet, jazz and tap beginning August 20 and continuing through early May. This is the 16th year for the program which will conclude with its annual May recital.  All classes will be held at the Rising Sun Senior Citizen Community Center at 510 S. Stretch...Relax...YOGA!
Increase your fitness, strength, flexibility and relaxation through yoga with the Rising Sun-Ohio County Parks & Recreation Department.  There are Tuesday evening classes from 7 to 7:45 pm.  The first class is Tuesday, August 14.
