The City of Rising Sun has a couple of fun Easter events coming up for children to enjoy. On Friday, April 7, bring your young ones to Pendleton Art Center (201 Main St.) from 6 to 8 pm and get a free picture with them and the Easter Bunny.  Pictures will be printed out while you browse the art gallary and shops on Main Street. On Saturday, April 15 at 10 am, American Legion Post 59 and Rising Sun Main Street is sponsoring the Community Easter Egg Hunt.  The event will be held at Shi...

Next Dumpster Day is Saturday, April 1
For Rising Sun residents only, the City of Rising Sun will have dumpsters available at the City Dump from 7 to 11 am on the following Saturdays in 2017: March 4, April 1, May 6, June 3, July 1, August 5, September 23, October 7 and November 4. The following items are not permitted at the dump: liquids, hazardous waste, wet or lead paint, closed drums, Freon containing refrigeration equipment, tires or mercury containing lamps.  Please adhear to the restrictions.  Thank you.

I appreciate the concerns about the City of Rising Sun’s proposed Abandoned Vehicles Ordinance and would like to clarify a few points. First, it’s important to note the city already has an Abandoned Vehicles Ordinance.  This was passed by the Common Council of Rising Sun in 1996 and is based on Indiana Code § 9-22-1 which became state law in 1991. Children's Advocacy Center Mardi Gras Raises Over $100,000
The 2017 Mardi Gras Ball to benefit the Children’s Advocacy Center of Southeastern Indiana was a huge success!  This year’s event was sponsored by Celeste Calvitto, owner of CalComm Indiana.  Over $100,000 was raised to help provide services to victims of child abuse in the region.  The successful evening was due to many generous sponsors, volunteers, silent auction donors, participants and especially the King and Queen candidates. The Ohio County Historical Society and the Sunshine Stitchers announce the annual Rising Sun QuiltFest. The event will be held March 31-April 2 at the Rising Sun History Museum located at 212 S. Walnut Street in Rising Sun. The Rising Sun quilt event originated inside long-time residents Betty Ann and Lloyd Pavy’s former furniture store.
